14 Times Ariana Grande Didn’t Wear a Ponytail

If there were a prize for most instantly recognizable celebrity hairstyle, Ariana Grande’s high ponytail would easily win. As she explained on Facebook last year, the extensions-enhanced look is partly a necessity, since it covers her badly damaged real hair. But even the platinum wig she wears in the video for her new single “Focus” takes the form of her signature pony; clearly, she also just loves rocking this particular hairstyle.

That said, there are times when Ariana Grande goes pony-free. Plenty of them, actually. Can’t picture it happening? Review the photographic evidence. She memorably let her hair down while performing at the MTV EMAs last November.

And last holiday season, she had this cat-ear headband moment.

Then there was the time she revealed her natural curls on Instagram in September and fans everywhere freaked out.

At the 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards she wore this smoothed-out blowout.

For the annual Jingle Ball concert in L.A. in 2012, she went half-back with bouncy curling-iron waves.

At the same concert the following year in Dallas, she wore her hair mostly loose with sweet braid accents.

And at the 2013 L.A. show, she took her hair all the way down.

Ari’s hairstylist, Daniel Chinchilla also provides occasional glimpses of the singer in a pony-free state.
