Beauty Rewind: Kim Basinger in 9 1/2 Weeks

No pre-teen sleepover was ever complete without junk food, ridiculous dares (frozen bras, prank calls), and the requisite inappropriate movie, watched, of course, long after the adults had gone to sleep. And my film of choice was always the oh-so-sexy 9 1/2 Weeks…

Starring none other than recent Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke, who was, I must add, devilishly handsome in his youth, and the stunning Kim Basinger. 9 1/2 Weeks may not go down in cinematic history, but some of its scenes—sex in an alley while its raining, a striptease to “You Can Leave Your Hat On,” and the famous refrigerator montage that made me never look at honey the same way again—will always be burned on my brain. Just as unforgettable was Kim Basinger’s look. Tousled, blonde waves, red-stained lips, and darkly lined and smudged eyes—or what I like to call, morning-after hair and makeup.
