Cara Delevingne’s Head Tattoo Might Not Be Permanent, but It Still Looks Incredible
If we set a timer for how many days it’s been since Cara Delevingne left the world buzzing, well, we’d be constantly resetting that baby to zero. Back in the hazy days of her long hair, the model-actress was a wild card known for her casual hair goals—and after showing up to the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards with a tattoo-esque design on the back of her head, obviously her trendsetting ways aren’t changing anytime soon.
Is the “tattoo” for real? Looking at photos, staring intently at the back of Delevingne’s head, we’ve deduced: maybe, but we’ve got doubts. There’s a lot happening here. We know the bottom action happening on her neck is legit—an addition made back October 2016 thanks to the celebrity-loved tattoo shop Bang Bang.
But the head design, while giving strong teen YA dystopian vibes (fitting, given Delevingne’s upcoming Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets role), reads like it might be slightly less permanent. Some digging on Insta confirmed it, with Delevingne’s longtime hairstylist Mara Roszak ’gramming the star in her chair last night.

Her caption reads, “I am in awe of this incredible creature. The beautiful #CaraDelevingne with a little head design drawn by me,” so nope, the design isn’t for good. All the better, TBH—ever since Delevingne shaved her head for Life in a Year, it feels like everywhere we look she’s setting standards and taking names. Example A: her extremely gorgeous silver head paint at the Met Gala. Example B: her beautiful Instagram caption standing against societal beauty ideals. Example C: this, here, above.
Now, we’ll say it: The temptation for a “buzz, buzz” pun is huge. Between the discussion on beauty standards she’s stirred up and the rumors flying on her every move, the sound of clippers and the (potential) noise of a tattoo gun, it’d be a perfect fit. But we won’t give in. Just know.
