Do or Don’t: Julia Roberts’s Pink Streaks

When I first saw this shot of Julia Roberts, I thought the baby pink locks in her hair were just a case of weird lighting. But then I saw an interview she did with Access Hollywood where she said she decided to add a cotton-candy section to the back of her locks at her daughter Hazel’s suggestion. I know we’ve been ragging on a few celebrities lately for going for cuckoo streak choices (check out our story on celebrity dye disasters to see), but I don’t know…I kind of like Julia’s pop of pink—

it actually reminds me (on a subtler scale) of the one bright streak that women were getting for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I’m into it! And in general, I think Julia is showcasing how cool, unexpected streaks should be done (unless they’re meant to draw attention a good cause, that is): Soft and on the underside of the hair. That way you’re guaranteed that they’ll stay pretty as opposed to stripy. On the other hand, let’s take a look at bad-streak victim Rachel McAdams:

Her on-top streaks from a couple of years ago were just too cartoonish for me. Luckily, Rachel moved on from that hair phase quickly!

What do you think: Do you like Julia’s pink streaks? Surprised the Oscar-winner went for them? Think it’s sweet she did it for her daughter? Wish she had skipped it? Think Rachel’s hair is actually cuter than Julia’s?

And be sure to peek through our round up of star “oops” color moments if you haven’t already!
