Does This Lipstick on Sarah Gadon Look Weird or Just Extremely Chic?

Wait, it’s Halloween already? I could have sworn we just came off Labor Day weekend, but then I saw this red carpet photo from the Venice Film Festival and got all disoriented.

At first glance I thought it was jet black lipstick that actress Sarah Gadon (who supposedly was canoodling with Robert Pattinson on the set of Maps to the Stars last month) is wearing, but closer inspection of the photo reveals that it’s actually a dark purple-y red.

I appreciate the spare chicness of how her dark wispy eyelashes play off the dark lips and how she’s wearing only a sheer nude glossy eyeshadow.

That said, this stark, dramatic makeup look feels just a little too harsh for me at this early point in the fall. You? Tell us how you like the look below.
