Emma Watson Quietly Went Dark Brown While We Were All Too Hypnotized By the BATB Trailer

The world is currently waiting on pins and needles for Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast film, starring Emma Watson. Thankfully, the magical trailer is enough to sustain us until the film comes out in March—but only if you watch it literally all the time. Seriously, you have to watch the trailer on a continuous loop in order to stave off the BATB shakes. The only problem with this plan is that you’ll miss a ton of real-world stuff, like meetings, birthday parties, and—oh yeah!—Watson going dark brown.

It’s true. Watson, who plays Belle in BATB, debuted her deeper brown hair at a Museum of Modern Art event in New York City last week, and she looks very chic. For this particular evening, Watson styled her new chocolatey hair in an updo with a few curly strands falling alongside her cheekbones—the perfect mix of fun and sophisticated. Of course, we can’t 100 percent confirm that Watson’s new hair is a permanent change. (Lucy Hale’s looks-so-real-but-they’re-actually-fake bangs taught us not to believe everything we see.) However, we do hope Watson keeps this color in for a while; it’s perfect for winter, and she wears it beautifully.

We wouldn’t be surprised if this was the real deal, though. Watson is a fashion and beauty chameleon. She particularly takes risks with her hair, jumping from a bob to a pixie cut to long, flowing locks at the drop of a hat. She’s even tried hair gems (diamond-like stones tucked within an updo), so you know she is down to get a little witchy. (Get it? Because Hermione Granger is a witch? Should I show myself out?)

Hopefully, this change is a sign of more exciting beauty moments to come from Emma Watson. With an international press tour looming for BATB, we have a feeling she has several more beauty tricks up her sleeve. Bless.
