Hair Obsession: This Updo on Dakota Johnson (A.K.A. Anastasia in 50 Shades of Grey)

We’re going to be seeing a lot more of Dakota Johnson on the red carpet in the coming months, thanks to her role as Anastasia Steele in the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie, and if this updo she wore to the LACMA 2013 Art + Film Gala is any indication of her style, we have a lot to look forward to.

There’s actually quite a lot going on with her hair here. Looks like there’s some downward French twist action on top, then a mini-bun in the middle of her head with a bigger oblong bun under it. So three elements: a twist, a small round bun, and a larger oval-shaped bun. I’m not 100 percent sure how they come together, but that’s what’s cool about it—it’s not something that’s really easy to figure out, and we certainly haven’t seen it a million times before. Such a breath of fresh air. Keep bringing us new ideas, Dakota, and you’ll quickly become a Girls in the Beauty Department fave.
