Here’s Why Thin Eyebrows Were So Hot in the ’90s
In the ’90s there was no one hotter than Drew Barrymore—she was the Guess Girl, wore chokers like a boss, made slip dresses look like a dream, and had the world’s cutest short haircut. Trying to be like her was just an accepted hobby. Which is why it was suddenly a time when the women in the country starting plucking their eyebrows to the point in which they basically disappeared.
Barrymore’s arches are now a legend. How or why she got started thinning them into a fine line that could have been drawn with a cat whisker is unclear, but everyone was into it, especially when the movie Mad Love hit theaters in 1995. In that fine film, her brows had hit new levels of thinness, the kind you had to have a magnifying glass to see. Constantly looking like a surprised Betty Boop was the new goal.
Of all the ’90s trends, this one hasn’t even sort of come back, and we support that fully. We adore Drew. She’s a lovely, adorable woman we have to thank for making E.T. special, creating Josie Grossie, and providing the affordable Flower Beauty line to all the women out there who want great products that don’t break the bank. So she gets a pass for this. Unless your eyebrows didn’t grow back. In that case, you should really read this story instead of giving her side-eye for all eternity.
