How to Get a High Ponytail With Lots of Volume a la Kate Winslet, Eva Longoria and Doutzen Kroes
No more hiding behind shaggy layers this year! 2012 is all about showing off your gorgeous face—and what better way to do that than with a sexy ponytail. Christo, a New York-based celebrity stylist who’s worked with Marcia Gay Harden, AnnaLynne McCord and Kendra Wilkinson, gives us the scoop on how to get this ‘do.
This hairstyle works best on medium, shoulder-length-to-long hair (with no layers) and all hair types. It will take approximately thirty minutes and the recommended products are:
· Curlisto Straight Time Glaze
· Curlisto Shaping Spray
· Curlisto Unruly Paste
· Blow Dryer
· Clear Hair Elastics
· Bobby Pins
· Paddle Brush
· Hot Roller (optional)
To create this look:
-
After hair is washed and towel dried, apply a dime size amount of Straight Time Glaze for thermal protection and to fight frizz. Blow dry hair with a wide paddle brush tilting your head forward to smooth the hair off the scalp. Then, push the hair back off the face to finish drying.
-
Brush hair into a high crown ponytail and use a fingertip amount of Curlisto Unruly Paste to smooth hair. Secure with a clear hair elastic.
-
Take a 1-inch section from the underside of the ponytail and wrap it up and around the rubber band and secure with bobby pins to dress the crown and hide the elastic.
-
Tease the ponytail for more fullness, or use a large hot roller to give the tail a slight wave.
-
Finish with Curlisto Shaping Spray and gently smooth down any loose hairs.
We love how day-to-night this hairstyle is. Perfect for those impromptu post-work plans.
