I Tried All 61 Makeup Brushes From Morphe’s New Collection, and These Are the 10 Worth Buying

I’ve always enjoyed the process of putting on makeup. There’s something so special about sitting down in front of the mirror and applying the products in a certain order (call me OCD, or maybe I just love a good beauty ritual). Each product has a different color and texture so each step requires a different tool to put it on. Of course, I’d love to have all those makeup brushes I see on YouTube, each perfectly clean and ready to use at a moment’s notice—and not to mention luxurious AF (read: $$$).

Unfortunately, I’ll simply never have the patience or discipline to clean my brushes weekly like you’re supposed to. Or have the money to keep investing in splurgy designer brushes. Sure they work beautifully, but I’d rather spend my cash on new makeup (or rent or Starbucks, or literally anything else).

Enter then, Morphe’s new makeup brush collection, which I actually stumbled upon thanks to Instagram. I’d heard various influencers rave about the line before, but had never tried it. “The Elite II Collection!” one caption boasted. “They’ll blow you away!” said another. “You can’t go wrong!”.

Challenge accepted.

In order to truly get a feel for what about the line makes every blogger loose her chill, I set out to test every single brush from the Elite II collection. All 61 of them. I spent days making my way through the pack, loving every single second of how the vegan bristles swept my makeup on like it was air. There’s no freaking way not a single one of these is more than $23, I thought. And yet, I’d double check the website and prove once again to myself that this was in fact true.

It took a while, but eventually I found my 10 favorites. Together, this little army of brushes is enough to do my full face of makeup, and let me tell you, they honestly live up to the hype. Plus, the total cost of them comes out to $109, which is around the same price of just one of the designer brushes I’ve been lusting after. You can’t beat these, so I won’t keep trying.

And so, without further ado, here’s every new Morphe brush that’s 100 percent worth adding to your current collection.

1. E5 Pro Mini Fan Brush ($14): For those of us who love highlighting but don’t want to look like our cheekbones are shooting lasers at everyone who passes by, I swear by this brush. It’s shaped like a typical fan brush but it’s much thicker so your highlight gets diffused over your skin a little more than with a thin, precise brush.

2. E3 Precision Pointed Powder ($17): It’s nice and fluffy but has enough precision to target the right areas of my face with my more colorful products. It’s awesome for blush because it’s not too dense, so I get a nice natural flush rather than a ton of pigment on the apples of my cheeks.

3. E44 Round Deluxe Buffer ($17): For days when I’m wearing BB cream or just an illuminating concealer on certain parts of my face (which is most days), I like a looser foundation brush. It’s not super dense so it blends any product in more naturally, meaning you can still see my skin underneath but it looks even.

4. E6 Premium Flat Buffer ($15): There are a million options for foundation application, but when I’m going for a full coverage foundation, I love a flat-top brush. It really buffs everything into my skin without letting too much product sink into the brush. Plus, the flat top makes me look airbrushed instead of giving me those foundation streaks a lot of brushes do.

5. E48 Mini Pointed Powder ($9): This brush fits right under my eye to set my concealer. Dewy skin is in, so there’s no need to powder your whole face. That’s why I like something smaller to get just the parts I need a little powder on.

6. E23 Deluxe Blender ($7): I’m a blending brush junkie thanks to Beyoncé’s makeup artist’s recommendation. In my opinion: the fluffier, the better. This one is super soft and applies shadow like nobody’s business. I love sweeping it across my lid to create the perfect natural eye during the day and a more dramatic smoky eye at night.

7. E14 Oval Shadow ($7): I love this fluffy brush because it’s flat, so I can pack color on my lid with the side of the bristles and then blend it out with the top of the brush. It’s definitely a multi-tasker and great for days when I need to slap some shadow on my eyes and run out the door.

8. E18 Round Crease ($6): This pencil brush rocks. I’m a big fan of adding some shadow on my lower lash line to give my look a subtle smoke. This brush adds just enough and never makes the line too harsh. It’s also great for adding pigment to my crease on days when I’m going for a more severe look.

9. E26 Oval Foundation/Concealer ($13): This two-in-one concealer brush is amazing! Applying under-eye concealer with a brush is a must, so I pack it on with the smaller end and blend everything out with the bigger end. The flat shape works to keep the coverage full without looking unnatural.

10. E29 Angled Brow/Spoolie ($4): Another two for one deal. This brow and liner brush has saved my life a few times. I can’t stand having messy brows so even when I don’t have time to fill them in, I comb through them so they look more put-together and full. The angled liner end is great for gel liner or just adding some shadow at my lash line or filling in the sparse parts of my brows.
