If You Thought Beyonce’s Gold Super Bowl Nails Were Cool, You MUST See Her Backup Dancers’ Manicure! (And Hear the Behind-the-Scenes Nail Drama!)
Tracey told you all about the effort that went into the sexy leather-tard Beyonce wore for her blowout Super Bowl halftime performance–now let me share the crazy backstory to the hot gold chevron nails she wore–and the even flashier, long manicures her backup dancers wore. Here’s a backstage photo snapped by Beyonce’s nail artist, Lisa Logan.
I mean, if there’s any nail look worthy of a Beyonce halftime show, I think it’s probably this. Right? Pretty hard to top.
So what does it take to make a major nail moment like this happen? Even more than you’d think! A full week before the Super Bowl, Lisa got a phone call asking her to jump on the first available flight to New Orleans to create the nails for Beyonce and her 10 backup dancers. Why so far ahead of time? Because B’s team would be filming those cool holographic background effects, so they needed to be in their full game-day looks.
“As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I began working on creating super long nail tips covered with the Gold and Matte Gold Chevron Minx that would be worn by the backup dancers,” Lisa says. “The nails were going to be used in the holographic segment where it looks like Beyonce has multiple arms, so all the dancers had to be wearing the same design. And, because the nails were so long, I needed to use two Minx templates to cover each tip.” Here’s a screen shot Lisa took, in case you somehow missed the halftime show/hologram effects:
And here’s a photo of Lisa’s supplies for this ultra time-consuming nail endeavor.
Lisa finished putting the Minx on the tips around 4 a.m. and was back at the hotel just 3 hours later to apply the tips to the backup dancers. By noon on January 27, Beyonce had also arrived and Lisa applied the same Matte Gold Chevron Minx to her nails.
Minx decals can last up to two weeks on the fingers, and Beyonce’s Minxed nails at the halftime show were the same set that had been applied a full week prior, and were the same Minx she wore for her January 31 press conference.
Now that’s some serious hard work, Lisa–but what a cool job!
What do you ladies think of these flashy gold nails? In the mood to wear some Minx now? I am!
