It Takes 6 Hours and 3 Makeup Artists to Apply Jaimie Alexander’s Blindspot Tattoos

Are you watching NBC’s *Blindspot *? The main character, Jane (played by Jaimie Alexander), is covered in tattoos on the show, and we’re fascinated. Yesterday the actress gave a behind-the-scenes look at what exactly goes into them. What we learned? They’re hard to get off and Monistat—yes, the yeast infection cream—is involved in the application process.

Taking over Access Hollywood‘s Instagram feed for the day, Alexander wrote, “First up, a shot of me getting my tattoos applied. They’re nice, I promise.”

Then she continued, “We apply powder to the tattoos to set them. Then we use Monistat to bring the vibrant color back.”

And finally, she ended with “It takes a village to get the tattoos off!” and posted this shot of her makeup team tending to the temporary ink with what looks to be a bottle of Bioderma Sensibio H2O Cleansing Water in the background.

The entire process is quite involved— it takes a team of three artists up to six hours to apply them. As for the purpose of the Monistat, she recently said in an interview, “It makes the tattoos look vibrant, but it has a powdery finish so you don’t stick to anything.” One of the show’s mysteries successfully solved.
