It’s High Time We Discussed Blake Lively’s Mini Ponytail
The half-up, mini-ponytail – AKA the signature hairstyle of my middle school years (in addition to “The Rainbow” and my triangular perm but we don’t need to get into that) – made an appearance on the red carpet earlier this week at, where else, the Teen Choice Awards. Blake Lively, goddess of the creative ponytail, was the leading lady behind this look. Let’s discuss…
In a way, I’m loving that Blake’s hair is both off her face and dancing around her shoulders – hence the essential draw of the half-up hairstyle.
But see, in the front, the way it’s tilting to one side? It’s making me picture soccer games and handstand competitions and the I-don’t-care-if-I-have-grass-in-my-hair beauty ‘tude of childhood. Is that a good thing? Kind of?
Truthfully, I wish she went a little more bouffant with it (albeit, maybe not with the orange leather dress). I know that sounds crazy but I love the tall half-up ponytails from the fall runways. Then again, I love anything that gets filed under, Retro Fabulous. And that includes weird, complicated finger waves.
__What do you ladies think? Are you down with the half ponytail? Do you like Blake’s Teen Choice Awards look? Was the half pony of your childhood filled with eight thousand snap clips like mine or was it easy breezy like Blake’s? Do tell! __
