Jessica Chastain Chopped Off Her Hair!

UPDATE: One of our favorite lobs is now a bob! Right when we finished professing our love to Jessica Chastain’s shoulder-grazing hairstyle (fine, a week later), she went and chopped a few inches off, taking it into official bob territory. Hairstylist Renato Campora updated the cut right before the actress’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday. The good news: We might be just as in love with this new version.

Today we would like to take a moment to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Jessica Chastain for having the coolest asymmetrical lob we’ve seen in…OK, ever. The formerly long-haired star of The Huntsman: Winter’s War went shorter in September, but only now that she’s been out promoting the film have we come to fully appreciate her shoulder-sweeping cut as one of the crowning style achievements of our times. Just look at all the very different (but equally enviable) vibes this one haircut has pulled off in the past couple months.

It can be subtle and sophisticated. For yesterday’s L.A. premiere, Chastain wore her hair smooth with one side pinned back into a little twist.

It can be undone and effortless. These big, crimpy waves at the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday gave Chastain some of the coolest hair in the room.

It can do fun, girly glamour. A deep side part changed the mood for the film’s Singapore premiere last week. We’d smile too if we had that hair.

It can be moody and so hot. Here’s a shot that Chastain’s hairstylist, Renato Campora, snapped in the elevator as she prepared to walk the red carpet at the movie’s Beijing premiere with an abundance of smaller waves. That texturrrre.

It can be flippy and flirty. Piecey texture and some bouncy curl just on the ends will do that to a girl, as Chastain showed us at the Independent Spirit Awards in February. From the side view, you can appreciate the cut’s architectural angle.

It can be all of the Old Hollywood glamour. Oh, this screengrab Campora captured—that hair is almost beautiful enough to make us weep. Shiny, uniform waves give this cut a whole new aura.
