Kate Beckinsale Just Chopped Her Famous Long Hair Off

One of our all-time favorite heads of hair has just gotten a major makeover—Kate Beckinsale has cut a good foot or so off her ends. She showed up to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences reception for their newest European members with her hair in much shorter-than-usual curls. Of course, since it was so long before, this change still doesn’t quite put her in short territory, but she now joins Amanda Seyfried and Kim Kardashian in the growing mid-length club. So is just-past-the-shoulders truly the new thing for fall? We say yes. It feels sophisticated and chic, but since it’s still long enough to pull back, versatile, which is perhaps our very favorite word when it comes to hair. Beyond that, it’s swingier than a long mane but softer than shorter styles, so it’s a great compromise for women who like a bit of sweetness in their look but still want to end up in the “grown-up” category.

What we’d also like to point out? Beckinsale kept her honey-highlighted brown hair color untouched. That made us breathe a sigh of relief. Her brunette shade is so perfect, changing it would be a crime.
