Lena Dunham Just Chopped Off All Her Hair
When we spotted Lena Dunham’s auburn hair last week, we were caught off guard: Finally living free of Girls’ Hannah Horvath, had the actress pulled a Keke Palmer and decided to explore new look frontiers? Turns out, no, that was a wig. But the hair change itch must have been building, because today Lena posted a picture of a brand-new, full-fledged pixie cut. Not totally uncharted territory—who could forget Hannah’s on-screen, spur-of-the-moment home cut—but it’s the first big hair change Lena’s gone for in a while. Spoiler: It looks great.
Lena’s description is hands-down our favorite part, though. Where some celebrities use caption-land to label their looks with variations of snack-based or similar adjectives, Lena dubbed her new aesthetic “Your mom’s therapist friend she leaves your dad for.” Potentially the most Lena Lena could get.

A follow-up shot showed off all the hair recently on her head—according to her caption, a sizable chunk that still fell short of the required Locks of Love minimum. Lena wrote, “Didn’t make it to Locks of Love length but if y’all are considering a cut and have a 10 inch pony tail I urge you.”

Who did the cut is unclear, but given that Lena didn’t tag a specific hairstylist, we’re slightly suspecting she did the pixie’s close-cropped sides and tufty top herself. Supporting evidence: A few weeks ago she gave her sister, Grace, a bob, and captioned it “Cut @simondunham’s hair myself and it did not come out badly and I am power mad and open for business.”

Or maybe her sister returned the favor? Unclear as of now, but Lena’s also been posting more photos recently of her pixie’d self, so maybe she was her own inspo.

Wherever it came from, we’re glad it’s here.
