Mad Men’s John Slattery Answers THAT Question About Gray Hair
Mad Men‘s silver fox John Slattery answered the question you’ve secretly been asking in your head for years last night on Watch What Happens Live: When did he go gray on his head…and below the waist.
Unfortunately, there’s no clip available of the actual moment (but don’t worry—there* is* a clip of Slattery wearing mustaches, which I’ve left for you below), but here’s what he had to say, “I think I went gray in college. And I think the downtown takes a little longer—at least in my case.”
Now, college is definitely a young age to go gray, but no cause for concern here. Gray hair happens when the your melanocytes stop producing melanin, which happens at different ages for different people—and while factors such as your hair color and lifestyle choices like smoking can can play a part, your turn-to-snow rate is largely based on genetics (you can read more about it in the *Scientific American here and *on Livescience here). So Slattery can thank his ancestors for his early silvering.
Another revelation: He is related to* Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* star Eileen Davidson by marriage.
Now here’s the promised mustache clip below:
