Oh NO, Taylor Swift’s New Wax Figure is Having a Bad Hair Day
As a beauty blogger who spends an inordinate amount of time analyzing celebrity hair, I can’t help but make an observation about the bangs worn by a new wax figure of Taylor Swift. The (eerily lifelike) figure, which replicates Taylor’s cheerleader look from her “Shake it Off” video, was unveiled at the Madame Tussauds in London today.
This Tay’s having a not-so-hot bangs day! There’s too much twist-and-flip in the front, creating a ridge of hair. It’s just a tad too Farrah Fawcett/1970s. If you revisit the video, you’ll notice that there’s no such ridge; just a side swoop. Here’s a still.
Now, that’s not to say that the wax figure’s bangs are totally inaccurate. I don’t want to detract from the creative genius and pop-culture savvy of the Tussauds artisans. Taylor’s bangs do occasionally form a pronounced ridge like this; I know because all I can think about is zhushing them flatter. Perhaps it’s just what happens when her bangs get so long they need to be styled out of her eyes, so she can see and stuff. Or maybe she actually likes wearing them a little ’70s sometimes.
And Taylor does have a knack for making just a slight bangs flip look totally cute. Here’s an example that I loved last spring.
See, I told you I spend too much time analyzing this stuff.
__What are your innermost thoughts on this matter—do you like Taylor Swift’s bangs flipped up and out, as worn by her latest wax doppelganger, or do you prefer a standard swoop? __
