Salma Hayek’s Daughter Is Growing Her Hair for an Awesome Reason
Salma Hayek’s daughter is gunning for the top spot on Santa’s “nice” list. The star posted a shot of the eight year old’s long hair with the caption “My daughter Valentina is growing her beautiful mane so she can cut it and donate it to make a wig for children with cancer. Now that is the spirit of Christmas.”
Hold on, let us get a tissue.
We can’t argue with Hayek being proud here. A sign that your kid is thinking about others in such a way at a young age warms our hearts—but if you’re the mother of that kid? Forget it. You’d be giving props for life. And clearly Valentina has a good role model. Hayek works with her husband Francois-Henri Pinault’s Kering Foundation, which helps combat violence against women, and she is the cofounder of the Chime for Change campaign, which raises funds for girls around the world. She’s also the founder of the Salma Hayek Foundation, which provides help for battered women, as well as disadvantaged children on the streets of Mexico. It’s no wonder Valentina would want to follow in her mom’s footsteps and help others in any way she can—and at eight, that way is growing her hair out. It just makes us want to send her a virtual hug right now.
There are several charities that accept hair donations of this type if you’d like to join Valentina. Locks of Love will accept layered hair as long as the longest layer is 10 inches and is cut while in a ponytail. Wigs for Kids will accept hair that’s 12 inches or longer, and Pantene Beautiful Lengths will accept hair that’s at least eight inches long.
