Selena Gomez Got Gorgeous, Swooped Bangs for Her Birthday

There’s a social experiment that says you need to stare someone in the eyes for only four minutes to fall in love with them. But after watching Selena Gomez’s “Fetish” video, it could be worth bumping that number down to three minutes and four seconds, the exact amount of time it takes to get deeply interested in every beauty decision this woman’s ever made, because she is flawless. Highlighter and moisturizer? Give it to us. And the beauty hits keep coming: In honor of her twenty-fifth birthday, last night Gomez served some of the prettiest bangs since Jane Birkin.

Gomez has been inching toward bangs for a bit now, going with long, face-framing layers ever since her lob chop. But there’s nothing like a birthday for a major hair change. So when Gomez’s longtime hairstylist Marissa Marino posted the shot, it was a long time coming. Marino captioned the photo, “Guess who wanted bangs again and is looking smokin hot tonight ������,” confirming that yep, this is no wig action (feel about that how you may).

A second shot taken by Gomez’s manicurist, Tom Bachik, gave another look at the style. The bangs are pretty similar to the ones she wore last August, so rest assured she knew what she was doing.

A high pony like the one Gomez wore to her birthday outing makes the most of the bangs in that sixties, Mad Men kind of way. For someone who switches up her look as much as Gomez does, the long, side-sweeping bangs are the smartest possible move—if you decide you don’t want to have bangs today, it’s almost as if they aren’t there. It’s an easier go-between than Cara Delevingne’s pixie-topping toupee, but to each their own.
