The Bun Drop Is the New Instagram Trend That Will Totally Mesmerize You

Instagram videos don’t tend to get the credit they deserve. While most trends on the social platform are tied to still photos (see: #mermaidthighs, hidden rainbow hair, and, of course, #throwbackthursday), the latest comes in video form—and it’s just as strangely hypnotic and satisfying as those recipe videos that dominate the explore page.

It’s called the bun drop and it’s exactly what it sounds like. In these videos, mostly women stand facing away from the camera and untie their buns to reveal a cascade of long (really, looooong) hair, as Mashable points out. Seriously, it’s that simple, but nonetheless mesmerizing. The shinier and more Rapunzel-like the hair, the better.
