The Matte Lipstick We’ll Be Wearing All Winter

Is it us, or has the beauty world gone bananas for a matte lip look? And not just your run-of-the-mill matte lip but a lip so intensely pigmented and saturated that it seems impenetrable. While we have a few favorite formulas in rotation—ahem, Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit—we’re making room for one more: Gaby Espino Lipsticks. If you’re not familiar with Gaby Espino, she’s the Venezuelan beauty best known for her starring roles in a slew of top telenovelas (like Santa Diabla), and she recently made her foray into the beauty world, which includes a YouTube channel and a new makeup line.

Her latest launch, a collection of liquid lipsticks, features seven different shades ranging from Forever Nude (our personal favorite) to Full Moon, a bright purple (all available on GabyEspino.com for $20 each). And the colors stay put, like, will last through a telenovela makeout stay put. But we do recommend you top them with a touch of lip balm. It’ll keep your lips from feeling too dry without altering the finish.

In it, Espino recommends pairing the lipsticks with dewy skin (“the contrast is incredibly modern”) and lining your lips with a neutral liner first—for the red shades, however, she suggests you use a red liner. From there, it’s just swipe and go.
