Theory: Mariah Carey Looks Younger When She Wears Her Hair Curly

Maybe it’s because she was barely out of her teens when she regularly let her natural curls come out to play, but for whatever reason, I think Mariah Carey looks younger when she wears her hair in spirals. Agree with me?

This is what she looked like rocking curls over the weekend.

Now compare that to this shot from 2009 or this video of her recent HSN highlights (which you’ve really got to watch anyway—it’s hysterical, I tell you).

Now, don’t get me wrong—I think Mariah is pretty either way. And there’d be nothing wrong with looking her age (which is 42, by the way). But there’s something fresher about her entire vibe when her hair is curly. Besides the whole Vision-of-Love nostalgia thing, perhaps she’s more comfortable with herself or for some reason coils have magic properties for her. I’m not totally sure. But it’s working for her.
