These Fake Lashes Are So Realistic Everyone Will Want to Know Your Secret

Jennifer Lopez’s eyelashes are so lush and long, they’re full of secrets (and no, we will never be able to stop quoting Mean Girls). Her makeup artist, Mary Phillips, just let us in on one of those secrets: a strip of fake lashes that’s actually realistic and user-friendly, even for women who would ordinarily hear “fake lashes” and immediately think “NOPE!”

The strip to which we refer: Huda Beauty Classic False Eyelashes in #7, Samantha ($20, sephora.com). Phillips applied them on Lopez yesterday for her appearance at the NBC Universal press tour, but you couldn’t instantly tell she had falsies on, as is the case with so many red-carpet makeup looks these days.

When we recently interviewed Huda Kattan, founder of Huda Beauty, she explained that the Samantha’s ultra-natural vibes are the reason why this style is her personal favorite (and this is a woman who’s all about a faux lash). “I wear them on a daily basis to work, and people are like oh my god your mascara is amazing,” she said. “And I’m like, little do you know, it’s not my mascara. I always say if people are new at lashes they should try Giselle or Samantha. They can cut them into four pieces, which is the easiest, foolproof way to wear lashes.”

If you look closely at the lash, you can see how wispy and natural the hairs are. That, plus the way the lashes are thicker at the roots, with hairs of varying lengths, is what makes the look so believable. Its lightweight feel is what makes it so wearable. And all of this is what makes us impatient to try these out during our coming weekend adventures.
