This Mesmerizing Lip Tutorial Will Totally Blow Your Mind

Even if you’re not someone who loses her chill over all things lipstick, you’ve got to admit, there’s nothing like a good makeup how-to. It’s science. (Remember that time we got to the bottom of why brow tutorials are so addictive? The same principle applies here.) So we feel fairly certain in saying you’re going to be mesmerized by this video of how drippy lips are made.

What, you ask, are drippy lips? Isn’t the answer obvious? It’s an Instagram trend—one in which lipstick is so liquid and molten, it actually oozes off your lips. Pat McGrath is a huge fan and Kylie Jenner even modeled the logo of her entire makeup line after it.

They’re so entrancing, you can easily go down a rabbit hole of looking at photo after photo of them. But nothing compares to the actual footage of the process. And thanks to Buzzfeed, who tipped us off about this YouTube tutorial makeup artist Sarah Steller created, we can’t pull ourselves away from the screen. Just watch and you’ll understand.

And just for good measure—or the distracted who can’t sit through a full tutorial—here’s a step-by-step look of how it’s done. It’s never too early to start thinking of Halloween makeup, right?

Step 1: Squeeze out clear lip gloss on top of pure eyeshadow pigment.

Step 2: Stir gloss and pigment until mixed completely.

Step 3: Apply a light base coat of the mixture with a lip brush. Let dry.

Step 4: Pick up the rest of the product and paint it on, making sure to really glob it on there.
