#WCW: Why Princess Leia Is Our Forever Beauty Crush
In a galaxy far, far away lives one of our ultimate beauty icons: Princess Leia. Which is why, 38 years after the release of the original Star Wars and on the eve of the premiere of the latest movie, we’re paying tribute to some of our favorite Leia beauty looks from over the years. (Spoiler: They’re way more varied than those classic buns celebrities keep copying!) And if you want to try one of them when you see The Force Awakens this weekend, we won’t judge you at all. Let the crush-fest commence.
Traditional Leia
The most classic Leia look of all time: the middle part, the epic, ear-covering buns, a raisin-toned lipstick, contoured cheeks, and smudgy eyeliner. Looks perfect with flowing, all-white ensembles.
Fighter Leia
Here, in The Empire Strikes Back, Leia makes the case for a neat, braided ponytail and smoky eyes.
Romantic Leia
A far more natural vibe in Endor with loose waves and a leather-woven braid as a headband. Copy the look the next time you find yourself wandering through a forest (during vacation, maybe?): Part your hair to the side and braid a quarter-inch section around your face, weaving in a strand of tan leather. Keep makeup natural and fresh.
Bombshell Leia
Leia was doing gold hair accessories long before Rodarte. (And while we might never know the real mascara responsible for Leia’s fluttery lashes here in Return of the Jedi, but CoverGirl Star Wars Super Sizer Mascara in The Dark Side gets the job done).
…And a more zoomed-out view from Episode VI confirms that, in order to pull off a metal bikini, a full-body exfoliation program is in order.
Moody Leia
We can’t help but wonder if every braided bun we’ve seen on the red carpet since ’77 can be traced back to this very look.
Leia, Braid Master
And lastly, this pony-braid hybrid from Cloud City: the stuff Instagram beauty dreams are made of. Coiled sideburns = a must.
