What Not to Wear Makeup Artist Carmindy Shares Exactly How to “Carmindize” (Plus, Chat With Her Live!)
As much I love myself some Stacy and Clinton, Carmindy’s makeup transformation might just be my favorite thing about What Not to Wear. The addictive show is ending after 10 years (tear!), but we’re going to make sure you have enough beauty intel to take with you. Carmindy will be chatting with us on Facebook TODAY, and she wants to answer your questions! In the meantime, we got the makeup artist extraordinaire to tell us exactly how to do her trademark move, Carmindizing. Hint: There’s a lot of highlighter involved!
Here’s what Carmindy says about her trademark move:
“Carmindizing is in incredible way to bring glow and radiance to the skin. Instead of using heavy unnatural contours to change the shape of your features, try these Carmindizing highlights to glorify them and make them stand out.”

Choose a cream or powder highlighter with subtle shimmer. If you use a cream version, apply it after foundation and before powder. If you use a powder formula, highlight after you’ve applied face powder. Which color should you choose? Think shimmering vanilla for pale skin, champagne for medium skin, and sunset gold for dark skin.

Apply the highlighter on the brow bone (under the eyebrow) using fingers for cream or an eyeshadow brush for powder. Then add a little on the inside corners of the eyes. This will make eyes really pop and sparkle.

Sweep the highlighter along the tops of the cheekbones using a fan brush to bring luminosity to the complexion and make the planes of your face stand out.

Finally, trace along the perimeter of your lips using a small brush or Q-tip. This will create a full-lip look that captures light and makes your pout look plumper.
