Winona Ryder Is Set to Star in Beatlejuice Sequel yet Hasn’t Aged Since the First One

The big Winona Ryder news of the week is that she confirmed the Tim Burton-directed sequel to the cult hit Beeltejuice is in the works. And that’s great! It’s exciting! It’s amazing! But, uh, has anyone else failed to notice that somewhere during the years in between Ryder, 43, has apparently figured out how to stop time?

The woman hasn’t aged. This is a shot of her from 1990 (two years after the release of Beeltejuice):

And here’s a shot of her taken earlier this week on the red carpet for HBO’s* Show Me a Hero*:

Sure, there’s the tiniest bit of fat loss, but that’s it—in 16 years.

We’ve noticed how well she’s playing the age game before, and we’ve got to give her respect here—she’s one celebrity who’s always stayed out of the sun, and all that diligence shows. And even if she weren’t aging as gracefully, we have a feeling she’d be handling it just fine—she said in recent years, “I have a little bit of traffic now on my forehead—which I’m like very proud of actually—and it’s interesting how people just instinctively are like, ‘Oh, maybe you should get something done for that.’ And it’s like, ‘Really?!'”

Really indeed—the woman has a forehead of a 20-year-old. And, yes, yes, we’re sure good skin care plays a big part here, but here’s a conspiracy theory for you: She’s really a stopped-in-time ghost living among us like the folks her character Lydia Deetz befriends in the movie. Has anyone checked her handbag for a copy of the Handbook for the Recently Deceased? Someone needs to call Juno, the case worker, and ask.
