8 Things to Know About Tom Holland, the Super-Cute New Spider-Man

Marvel announced yesterday that it had found the newest Peter Parker/Spider-Man: 19-year-old Tom Holland. After an “extensive search” and “complex screen tests,” Holland was selected to carry the franchise when its next film premieres in summer 2017. “With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Sony’s Amy Pascal said in a statement. We believe her, but who exactly is Tom Holland? Here are eight things to know.

He’s also an accomplished dancer, which helped him land roles in London’s production of Billy Elliot the Musical—first as Billy’s best friend, Michael, and later as Billy.__

He appears to be taken, as Instagram would tell it, by an adorable blond named Elle Lotherington.

The British actor is only 19 years old, which makes him the youngest of all the recent Spider-Men. Andrew Garfield was 29 and Tobey Maguire was 27 when they first appeared in the role.

Spider-Man isn’t the only major role he has coming up, though—he’ll also appear alongside Chris Hemsworth in Ron Howard’s upcoming In the Heart of the Sea.
