Beauty and the Beast Star Jay Ryan Shows Us Exactly How He Gets in Costume (It Takes 3 Hours!)

Many thanks to Auckland, New Zealand for giving us the dashing and talented Jay Ryan, who plays Vincent Keller (AKA, the Beast) on the CW’s Beauty and the Beast. He took time out of his busy schedule to document a day on set and what it takes to get into character—not that he’s complaining, but 3 hours in a make-up chair can’t be easy! Take a look behind-the-scenes with Jay, and don’t forget, an all new episode of Beauty and the Beast airs tonight at 9/8c!

5:45 A.M.: Dawn has broken, and I have to say it’s much prettier than me in the morning.

6 A.M.: Hitting the gym…again!

7:15 A.M.: Quick refresh and looking over today’s scenes.

7:30 A.M.: Breakfast, Happy Halloween!

8:00 A.M.: On set–“trying to find the antidote”–all totally legal, of course.

11:30 A.M.: Weekly costume fitting. Yep, the “Beast” gets to wear Armani…sometimes.

2:00 P.M.: Time to get my face on.

The tools of the trade.

2:30 P.M.: The “Beastie Boys” begin the 3-hour application process. Nap time.

6:00 P.M.: Back on set, final touches. This is bloody work.

7:00 P.M.: Beauty & some guy lurking in the dark.

8:30 P.M.: Another day down, and what better way to finish? A date with my lady at a lacrosse game–apparently very Canadian.
