Carina Castro and Her Precious Hair Flip Stole the DNC and My Heart Last Night

I had a lot of appropriate, intellectual reactions to last night’s action at the Democratic National Convention–Michelle Obama was electrifying, as I’m sure you’ll be reading all about over on Inspired today.

Seeing a real mom of five kids, four of whom are spread across different branches of the military? Awe-inspiring. Kal Penn using the term “hashtag sexyface”? Well, OK.

But let’s get soft for just one minute here–I need to talk about San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro’s 3-year-old daughter, Carina, for a second.

Towards the end of his keynote address, Castro paid tribute to his mom, wife, and daughter–and when the camera panned to little Carina, the magic began. We’re talking expert hair flips, precious pouting, and a haughty disinterest in looking straight into the camera.

Carina is the world’s tiniest and most adorable diva and I love it. Tyra Banks would be proud. Honey Boo Boo would be threatened. And I… well, you know me. I couldn’t help myself… such brilliant posing deserves motion.

I feel like as long as I know this little lady is out there doing this hair flip, everything’s gonna be A-OK today.
