Chicago Fire’s Teri Reeves Talks Hot Guys, the Best Pizza in Chicago, and More!

There are several reasons Team Obsessed is looking forward to the Chicago Fire premiere tonight on NBC (mostly relating to all those hot guys), so when I got the chance to interview co-star Teri Reeves, who plays Hallie on the show, I had to ask what it’s like being around so many abs talented actors…

Glamour: Tell me about the show! We’re so excited for the premiere.

Teri Reeves: The show is about a particular engine house in Chicago that houses a fire truck, squad, and ambulance. It’s a love story at first. There are all of these guys who rescue people, and they deal with their own personal lives at home.

Glamour: You film on location in Chicago, right?

Teri: Correct. We’ve all moved out here.

Glamour: Do you think that helps to be on location and get the feel for the city, rather than being in a studio in NY?

Teri: Oh, absolutely. Hands down. It really has become another character in the show. As far as the characters in the show themselves, they’re all from Chicago–or most of them. Just being in Chicago and absorbing the vibe, it’s easier to build your character as well, without having to imagine it.

Glamour: What’s the best part about Chicago?

Teri: My favorite thing is the people. They’re so down-to-earth and accessible and welcoming. I live in the River North district, so there’s the art institute, which is a great way to spend the afternoon. I take long jogs, which is fantastic. They have a plethora of amazing bars.

Glamour: So, who has the best pizza in Chicago?

Teri: There’s such an argument about it! I’ve been to places with friends, but I can’t eat pizza. I’m allergic to cheese, wheat, and flour. So I’ll have little bites here and there. So far my favorite is Pizano’s, although I haven’t been to Gino’s.

Glamour: Do you want to talk a little bit about what it’s like to be on the set of a new show? Is there a different energy?

Teri: Absolutely. There’s sort of a freedom in it because we’re all allowed to come at it really creatively, to fill in the blanks of the character and stories, and how we envision it. There’s a sense of camaraderie because we’re figuring it out together as we’re trying to create it together.

Glamour: How do you hope to see her evolve over the season?

Teri: Hallie is the resident doctor at an E.R., and she is the fianc?e of Lt. Matt Casey. When we first meet them, they’re not sure what’s going to happen to their relationship. He wants a family; she wants to finish up her residency. Over the season, we get to see them grow and evolve to try and figure all of that out. For her, I hope they grow into a healthy relationship. I think that’s all I’m allowed to say [Laughs].

Glamour: Everyone in the office is excited about the show because there are so many hunky guys on set. Is it distracting?

Teri: These guys are such great guys. They’ve become like brothers. You laugh, joke, and spend time with them. They have your back and take care of you. We’re like a family already. When you look around, you’re kind of like, Oh my gosh!’ I’m sort of lucky because they’re so great.

Glamour: Who would you say is the hottest?

__Teri:__That’s not a fair question. They’re all hot in their own way.

Glamour: Very diplomatic answer. Anything else to add about the show?

Teri: I feel like the show is special and audiences will notice that it’s so authentic. The writers and the actors are really committed to telling you the real-life stories in the most authentic way, so I think people watching will respond to that. They’ll see people they know on screen or people they can relate to. I think that will help us stand out and help audiences connect.

Glamour: Chicago is a great city.

__Teri:__The city has been so supportive, and the firefighters here are with us all the time, participating with us. I feel like the city is behind us. Everywhere you go, you already know about the show.

Glamour: That’s great you guys have actual firefighters and EMTs on set.

Teri: They’ve trained us, they’ve taken us on runs with them so we can get real-life experience. They’ll be on set and act as extras with us. We shoot at their firehouse!

Glamour: Have there been any crazy incidents where they’ve had to answer a fire call in the middle of shooting?

__Teri:__Oh yeah. We’ll be in the middle of a shot and their bells will go, and we’ll have to hold for them. It happens a lot.

Glamour: Is that ever a problem? Or does it go pretty smoothly?

Teri: We work it out. It hasn’t been a problem so far.

__Tune in TONIGHT at 10/11 p.m. ET for the series premiere! __
