Here’s Definitive Proof Emma Stone Is the Perfect Choice to Play Cruella de Vil
The live action version of Disney’s The Jungle Book was a major success—it brought in $533 million, and counting, globally—so it’s not shocking that we’ll be seeing plenty more of our childhood favorites get the remake treatment in the years to come. So, what’s next? Walt Disney Studios has confirmed it has nine live-action movies currently in production, including Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, and Reese Witherspoon taking on Tinkerbell. Disney has even claimed stakes on release dates through 2019 (though each movie hasn’t necessarily been assigned a release date yet).
All of these movies sound incredible and perfectly cast—but there’s one that we’re particularly psyched for. Emma Stone is set to curl her lips and perfect an icy stare as evil dog-napper Cruella de Vil in what’s being billed simply as Cruella. Now, Glenn Close played an epic Cruella de Vil in 1996’s live-action version of 101 Dalmatians:
And, of course, we can’t forget the classic animated version:
But if anyone is going to fill those stylish shoes, we know Stone will rock it in her first truly villainous role. For starters, don’t you think she looks damn good in Cruella’s signature black and white?
And in polka dots too…
She can pull off a fur collar…
Her smokey eye game is on point for when she needs to give a stone-cold stare…
Speaking of stone-cold stares, she’s got those mean sneers and devilish looks down pat…
And like every good villain, her hair can get wild and frantic…
Now, unlike Cruella, Emma is a dog lover, but we have a feeling that’s an important requirement on a set that is likely to have a minimum of 101 dogs running around at any given time.
We can’t wait for the first look of Emma as Cruella! This is going to be good.
