Ladies of TV, Give Yourselves a Hand: Your Boyfriends Are All So Handsome This Year
Give this page a quick scrolly-down if you didn’t watch The Mindy Project last night, because I need to share: much like the lady actually involved in it, I never saw that Mindy/Josh blowup coming. I was looking forward to Josh (Tommy Dewey) sticking around for a while. Once you know a man can make slightly ladylike glasses look this good, you just want to see what else he can do, ya know?
But my disappointment at this turn of events just goes to show how spoiled we’ve been lately. Ladies of the TV universe, I’d like you to rise and please give yourselves a standing ovation. Because this season, you have put together a true embarrassment of riches in the boyfriend department. I can’t remember the last time guest-star romances were so top-notch. I mean, are you all on TV universe phones right now, talking about how awesome it is that you’re dating…
You know him from:Party Down, Friends With BenefitsThe lucky lady: Caroline (Beth Behrs), 2 Broke Girls
The best part: Besides those dimples? His character owns a candy store. Get it, Caroline.
You know him from:2 Broke Girls, incidentally! (He’s also Kat Dennings’ real boyfriend.) But in the TV universe he belongs to…
The lucky lady: Penny (Casey Wilson), Happy Endings
The best part: He got over it when chronically-nutso Penny made a list of his flaws (nipples a quarter-inch too low). And he looked like this doing it.
You know him from:Comedy Bang! Bang!, Hot in Cleveland
The lucky lady: Kate (Dakota Johnson), Ben and Kate
The best part: OK, they’re not together yet (and Echo is a regular). But now that Geoff Stults (another gorgeous man!) has bowed out, Echo’s character may soon get to do more than follow Kate around like a lovelorn puppy. A protective longlorn puppy. A protective longlorn puppy with… eyes… that we… sigh.
You know him from:Terra Nova
The lucky lady: Rachel (Lea Michele), Glee
The best part: Watching little old Rachel discover the beauty of New York. And I don’t mean the buildings.
You know him from:Bent, Perfect Couples
The lucky lady: Jess (Zooey Deschanel), New Girl
The best part: He [SPOILER!] came back for her! At Christmastime! And his hair is out of control. What guy has hair like that? It’s luscious.
You know him from:Better With You
The lucky lady: Erin (Ellie Kemper), The Office
The best part: I’d say it has to be the fact that Jake’s character, who’s subtly chasing Erin as she (hopefully) winds down with Andy, makes us feel that early Jim-and-Pam pitter-patter magic again.
Cheers, girls. Enjoy this while it lasts. And here’s to keeping the hot streak up in 2013.
What TV boyfriends have you liked the best so far this season? (Also, look what Mindy Kaling tweeted–maybe there’s hope for our bespectacled crush yet.)
