Leighton Meester and Adam Brody Have Finally Embraced Their Blair-Seth Connection
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester — married since 2014 — may be real people to each other, but to us, they’re still the dorky heartthrob of Orange County and the most feared teen on the Upper East Side, respectively.
In case you lived under a rock, Brody played Seth Cohen on The O.C. (greatest show ever) in the early 2000s, and in the 2010s, Meester starred as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl (other greatest show ever). Both shows were executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, and both followed the adventures and misdeeds of wealthy teens and their even less responsible parents. They also both featured exactly one protagonist from the wrong side of the tracks in love with an impossibly out-of-reach character. And in both cases, scenes were repeatedly stolen by the angsty leads’ witty brunette pals (a.k.a. Brody and Meester). That’s why it was a match made in TV heaven when Seth Adam Brody eventually dated and then married Blair Leighton Meester. These characters, and, more important, these super-likable actors, deserve an undramatically happy ending.
And now, the couple have revealed to Entertainment Tonight that they do, occasionally, share a laugh over the teens they played on TV. While volunteering at the Feeding America’s Summer Hunger Awareness event, Brody joked that “once a year” they have a “Seth and Blair day” where they dress up like their characters. Clearly, they don’t actually do that — but we’d love it if they did. And if anyone wants to host a “Seth and Blair” theme party, we’re in.
Meester also graciously said, “It’s exciting to us that it’s exciting to you.” So if you need us, we’ll be retreating to our Netflix queues.

This interview is a rare one because Brody and Meester are super low-key, especially by Hollywood standards. This is their first joint interview, ever, and they rarely walk red carpets or do appearances together. They were even wed in secret. The couple met in 2010 while filming The Oranges together but didn’t start dating until early 2013. They also co-starred in 2014’s Life Partners. And they have one child together, a daughter, Arlo Day Brody.
