Lili Reinhart Helped Madelaine Petsch Avoid a Wardrobe Malfunction, as Friends Do
Betty Cooper and Cheryl Blossom may have had their differences on Riverdale, but IRL Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch have nothing but love for each other. So much love, in fact, that Reinhart was tapped to fix a wardrobe malfunction of Petsch’s at the MTV Movie and TV Awards this weekend.
Petsch posted a shot to Instagram showing off her look for night—a pink sequin and chiffon dress—and revealed in her caption the almost-malfunction that happened. “Little does this Madelaine know that in 2 and a half hours @lilireinhart would be safety pinning the bottom half of her dress so her butt doesn’t become exposed to the world,” she wrote.

It’s unclear what the dress looked like after the emergency surgery on it took place, but according to a description on Bustle, it sounds like Reinhart took the bottom of Petsch’s dress, folded it up, and pinned it to the top — essentially turning it from a gown into a minidress.
Thankfully for Petsch, Reinhart is an old pro at handling wardrobe snafus. At the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, she dealt with a near-malfunction of her own after the waistband of her dress snapped moments before the event. “The waistband of my dress was held together by two strings and one of them completely ripped as I was being zipped up,” she wrote on Twitter at the time, but thankfully she had a friend of her own to help out. “So after dealing with that sh*t show and having one of my bffs @taylrfostr stitch me back together in 10 minutes, I was thrilled to be there.”

Clearly, that experience taught Reinhart the importance of always traveling with a safety pin.
