Lili Reinhart’s Latest Instagram Is Fueling Those Cole Sprouse Dating Rumors

It’s been rumored for weeks now that Riverdale stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse are dating IRL. Granted, nothing has been confirmed yet, but the actors have each dropped subtle hints that something is happening both on and off screen. (Their characters, Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones, are an item on the show.) Fans raised their eyebrows last week after a video of them secretly holding hands during an interview went viral, and now Reinhart’s Instagram is causing some heart palpitations.

On Friday (August 4), Reinhart posted a very touching message about Sprouse in honor of his twenty-fifth birthday. “To the man who has showed me more beautiful places in this past year than I have ever seen in my whole life. Happy birthday, Cole. Thank you for all of the adventures and here’s to many more,” she wrote.

The post is very sweet, I know, and the Riverdale army is having a total conniption over it for obvious reasons. Here are just a few of the comments on this photo:

You get the gist: Many fans are taking this post as some sort of confirmation Reinhart and Sprouse are together—but unfortunately it’s not. Reinhart simply wished Sprouse a happy birthday—nothing more, nothing less. It’s very easy to read into messages like this, but let’s take it at face value for now: proof that Reinhart and Sprouse are tight even when the cameras aren’t rolling. (Which is wonderful!)

And, hey, at least we still have Bughead to ship.
