Patrick Wilson on the New Movie He’s Making with His Brother-in-Law, Scott Foley (!) and Their Awesome Wives

Just take a moment to absorb that Patrick Wilson and Scott Foley are brothers-in-law (I had no idea, either).

OK, moment complete. Prepare for it to get even better: The sisters they’re married to are the brilliant and beautiful actresses Dagmara Dominczyk and Marika Dominczyk, respectively. Marika you know from Brothers and Sisters; Dagmara just wrote the buzzy summer book The Lullaby of Polish Girls. (Please follow them on Twitter here and here immediately—they’re great on Twitter. You won’t be sorry.)

Just learning that this Hollywood mini dynasty of sharp, stunning talents exists would’ve been enough to make my day, but as it happens, they’re all shooting a comedy together right this second. Ward’s Wife stars Donald Faison as a beaten-down husband whose buddies help him hatch a wife-offing plan—and it’s a family/friends affair of Apatowian proportions. Patrick (who’s co-producing the film; Scott will direct) graciously took time out this morning from the Ward’s Wife L.A. shoot (and a game of catch with one of his sons—aw!) to give me the deets on the film.

“This is something Scott wrote about two years ago, a story from a dark, ridiculous place in his mind,” Patrick said on the phone. “Stay with me: Scott and Amy Acker, who’s my producing partner James Carpinello’s wife, are playing husband and wife. My sister-in-law Marika and I are playing husband and wife. And my wife, Dag, is playing Donald Faison’s wife. What’s fun about doing this with the family is you know their strengths and comedic chops, and everybody gets a chance to shine.”

Donald, BTW, is practically like family: “Scott and Donald knew each other from Felicity, and Scott directed episodes of Scrubs, so they’ve always been friends. We tried to keep it in our inner circle.”

Which we’re all going to start secretly pretending we’re part of immediately, yes? How fun does Ward’s Wife sound?
