President Donald Trump doesn’t seem familiar with limits when it comes to women, judging by a few reports that popped up over the election cycle—which range from the infamous boast about grabbing women by their p-ssy to a general fixation on women’s bodies. Salma Hayek hasn’t been shy about talking about her past experiences with the now President either.
Last October we began the saga of the time she turned down his offer of a date after Trump allegedly used her then boyfriend to get her number. After the rejection, a story in Trump’s favorite newspaper, the National Enquirer, came out saying Trump wouldn’t go out with her because she was “too short.” Now we have more insight into how exactly he tried to hit on her, thanks to her Friday chat with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show.
She said that Trump approached her then boyfriend and, after befriending him, got her number from him. Then he called her and threw some shade at her boyfriend to get her to go out with him.
“I was at an event with my boyfriend, and then I went like this, like I’m cold—” Hayek said, miming shivering—”and he put his jacket on.” She says that she and her boyfriend turned around, and there he was, “so charming, so nice.” “He said hello, presented himself, super nice,” she adds. “He said, ‘I’m sorry, your girlfriend, I saw that she was cold.'”
“Anyway, he kept talking to my boyfriend. And then he befriended my boyfriend and invited him to dinner afterwards, to go where he was going. We went, and the whole time he’s talking to…my boyfriend,” she says. “And then he’s like, ‘If you guys are in New York, you can come to Atlantic City, da-da-da; you can stay in my hotel; give me your numbers.'”
Hayek pauses, miming Trump asking her and her boyfriend for their numbers.
“Never talked to my boyfriend again,” she says. “Now he’s calling and he’s inviting me out…and I say, ‘What about my boyfriend? Am I crazy? Are you asking me out? You know I have a boyfriend.'”
“He’s not good enough for you,” Hayek says Trump replied. “Not important. He’s not important; he’s not big enough for you. You have to go out with me.”
“Did you wind up marrying that boyfriend?” Noah asks.
“No,” Hayek answers.
“So Donald Trump was right,” Noah says, laughing.
Well, there’s that.
