Where Are They Now: Hocus Pocus
Halloween is near, which for me means multiple viewings of The Greatest Movie of Our Time, Hocus Pocus.
In case you’ve somehow forgotten about this American classic, let me fill you in: it’s a 1993 comedy about a Halloween-hating teen who accidentally resurrects three witches in Salem, Massachusetts—hijinks ensue.
Also, this:
Omri Katz–Max Dennison
After starring as teen Max, Omri made guest appearances in Freaks and Geeks and General Hospital. According to IMDB, he is now taking a break from acting and hairdressing in Los Angeles AND living in Israel (boy, is that a long commute…). Also, he was in a really weird YouTube video a few years back, but it’s kind of NSFW, so I chose not to embed.
Thora Birch–Dani
Thora went on to have a pretty big career after Hocus Pocus, starring in Now and Then, American Beauty, and Ghost World. Her most recent projects include that Lifetime movie Pregnancy Pact and dark comedy Petunia. Also, she was on an episode of Punk’d, so you know she’s officially made it.
Vinessa Shaw–Allison
Vinessa is still a working actress today. She was in The Hills Have Eyes, 3:10 to Yuma, and now she’s filming a movie with Jude Law called The Bitter Pill. She’s been engaged to behind-the-scenes film artist Kristopher Gifford since 2008.
Sean Murray–Thackery Binx
So, FYI, I had a major crush on him back in the day. Most recently, he is on NCIS as Special Agent Timothy McGee. He has a daughter, Caitlyn, and son, River, with his wife, Carrie. There are rumors he’s Chad Michael Murray’s brother, but alas… that is not true. 🙁
(He’s the center)
Doug Jones–Billy Butcherson
Believe it or not, but aside from the three Sanderson sisters, Doug Jones might just be the most successful star from Hocus Pocus. He’s known for his work with prosthetics in movies, so you’ve seen him (but not recognized him, obviously) in countless movies and TV shows–Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Hellboy, and Pan’s Labyrinth to name a few. Seriously, take a look at his bio, it’s impressive. He has a bajillion movies lined up, as well. In his spare time, he says he loves to rollerblade, sing, and cut his own hair. Also, he’s a mime and has written a book about it. This guy is fascinating.
