5 Carrie Bradshaw Outfits That Made Us Do a Double Take

Carrie Bradshaw is widely accepted as one of the best-dressed TV characters of all time, but if we can have a real talk moment…sometimes her outfits were kinda cray, right? Her fearless, pro-fashion approach to style is nothing but admirable (it’s the kind of getting-ready gumption that would enliven anyone’s wardrobe), but sometimes it resulted in pretty out-there ensembles.

Like, we love you, Carrie, but…what? With lots of ruching, this dress would be busy enough on its own, but when you add a brooch, long gold chain, and a headwrap, it’s a lot.

Let’s be honest: If you saw a woman in a newsboy cap and hot pants strolling by, it’d be hard not to stare. Add in the knee-length coat, the slingbacks, and the baguette, and it’s too much to ignore.

The only place that a cowboy and bandeau bra top should work is at the beach, but in Carrie-land, it’s the sort of outfit that works for a Tuesday night.

And, of course, there were definitely the good double takes. Sarah Jessica Parker’s body is made for retro, nipped-waist dresses—it’s when Carrie wore these sort of feminine sundresses that she transformed into the type of iconic style plate we’d check out twice.

Early-aughts Carrie had some clingy, slinky dresses that made her look like a true sex bomb. This was one that would have guaranteed a lingering glance from whatever suitor-of-the-day she was chatting with, Big or Berger.
