Ariana Grande’s Met Gala Look Is Serving Major Sistine Chapel Vibes
It’s been an incredible three weeks for Ariana Grande. The singer made her triumphant return to pop music on April 20 with the Max Martin-produced “No Tears Left to Cry,” which is a serious contender for song of the summer. A few days later, she dropped some details about her new album (it’s called Sweetener, and sleuthy fans predict it will drop on July 20). And, now, the singer’s on the red carpet at the Met Gala, sporting a Vera Wang dress that literally looks like the Sistine Chapel.
No joke: Grande took the Gala’s theme (“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”) and ran with it. The dress is stunning: long and flowing with water color-tinged Sistine Chapel prints all over it.
“It was just all about romance with her,” Grande’s longtime stylist, Law Roach (who put together het Met Gala look) , told Women’s Wear Daily about the look. “There is a bit of drama there, there is a silhouette that we are used to seeing her in but, of course, more elevated and more appropriate for the event. It is very recognizably Ariana Grande, for sure.”
That’s definitely an understatement. This look is so Ariana Grande that I spontaneously started singing “Moonlight” when I first saw the photos. Every Arianator on the plant is weeping as they scroll through images of Grande on Twitter. She really did this, you guys! Pretty soon we really will have no more tears left to cry.
Check out just a few shots of Grande’s heavenly look, below:
The back of the dress might be more breathtaking than the front.
“I’m giving God and the gays everything they want,” — Grande in this photo (in my mind).
Vera Wang: OK, Ariana, now when you get to the carpet make sure you—Grande: “Right now I’m in a state of miiiiiiiind”
Just like a prayer, this dress really did take me there.
