Bella Hadid Falls Down a Flight of Stairs in her ‘For Walking’ Boots

Nothing makes for tabloid fodder quite like a celebrity tripping as they leave a restaurant. That much was apparent when we woke up to the news that Bella Hadid had lost her footing as she exited a friend’s birthday party in New York. Quelle horreur! Of course, the 20-year-old model knows how to handle this type of situation like a pro: We saw it when she “announced” a slight career pivot to professional breakdancing after she tripped on the Michael Kors spring 2017 runway. And the morning after her late-night tumble, she addressed the glaring joke in those paparazzi shots: the fact that she stumbled while wearing boots that read “For Walking.”

In an incredible exercise of visual irony, Hadid happened to be wearing Off-White’s celebrity-favorite “For Walking” heeled, knee-high boots from the fall 2017 collection.

While some were quick to remark on this unfortunate sartorial fact-check, the model took to Instagram Stories to acknowledge the humor in it all. “How am I still so damn clumsy in 2017,” she wrote, along with: “Help,” “I trip over everything,” and “#nevernotfalling.” She then took a photo of the culprits—the Off-White boots—and amended their “For Walking” slogan slightly: “In my case ‘for tripping.’”

And, in case you were wondering, Hadid has seen the pictures. She regrammed one onto her Stories, even, and added a little bit more context to the situation. “Just making sure the floor is good for my friends to walk on,” Hadid captioned it. (The security guard who was trying to catch her was rewarded with a crown sticker.) You have to admit: The girl has her comedic timing down.

The Off-White boots may not have totally delivered on their promise of walkability, but they sure do look good. Plus, no one can sell us on knee-high boots quite like a Hadid.
