Christina Ricci’s Under-Cleavage: Let’s Discuss

You need not look further than the fall 2010 runway of Louis Vuitton to know that cleavage has become big news in fashion. But one starlet recently turned our expectation of what’s sexy completely upside down–literally!

NEW YORK – JUNE 01: Christina Ricci attends the closing of Marina Abramovic’s “The Artist is Present” hosted by Givenchy at The Museum of Modern Art on June 1, 2010 in New York City. (Photo by Jamie McCarthy/WireImage)

Check out Christina Ricci at a Museum of Modern Art party earlier this week wearing a dress by the evening’s host, Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci. As soon as I saw this photo, I fell in love with the gothic sex appeal of her dress–Wednesday Addams, all grown up!–and the sassy feathered skirt, but I took a closer look and noticed that she was displaying some rather unusual decolletage (or, rather, whatever the opposite of decolletage is–is it totally repellent to call it “underboob”?).

I think the beauty of this dress would have been lost with a bulky bra peeking through the transparent lace, but maybe a lady with less womanly endowment (I’m talking to you, Rachel McAdams!) would have worn in better? Do you ladies think that Christina oversteps the bounds of appropriateness by showing off her under-cleavage? Or do you think this is a kind of chic way to show skin that just may catch on? Is it a refreshing alternative to below-the-clavicle exposure, or just another way to showcase way too much T&A? Discuss!

– I tried it: A cleavage-enhancing makeup kit

– Catherine Zeta-Jones does decolletage tastefully (and here’s how you can, too)

– Loving her look: Blake Lively left her top at home…and still looks amazing!
