Since we’re talking spring fashion, it’s only fitting that the Obamas arrived to rain in Cuba yesterday. It’s a frustration that characterizes dressing for the finicky season—how do you find something that’s on-trend, easy to wear, and appropriate should the weather turn steamy, chilly, or, ugh, wet? Malia and Sasha Obama both got it just right in short dresses they paired with sneakers, the classic shoe of choice for long days of playing tourist that also happens to be having a major style moment. Plus, they’re a wise pick for inclement weather since cleaning them is easy, and you’re less likely to slip and slide on rainy surfaces (versus slick leather sandals or heels).
