Emma Watson Shows Off What May Be The Ultimate Sexy-Meets-Cute Spring Outfit Idea

I’ve stared long and hard at this photo of Emma Watson that came through the wires this morning. After a lot of thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s officially the perfect spring date outfit. Take a closer look after the jump and see if you agree.

These photos were snapped by paparazzi in Paris as Emma was taping a Lanc?me commercial (yesterday it was announced that the pixie-haired beauty was tapped to be one of the house’s new faces). It’s a shame she didn’t wear this same look on the red carpet (so it could be photographed ad nauseum and live forever and ever on the interwebs) as there are at least six awesome things going on with it:

  1. The pale pink hue sweetens up the boyish blazer.

  2. The tie-front blouse looks sexy, not school marm-y, when left untied.

  3. The unscandalous hemline of her lace shorts make ’em look daytime-friendly (and not say, borrowed from the bedroom).

  4. The shorts are playful (where a skirt in the same fabric could make her look prissy).

  5. The tiny ankle strap nude heels help her legs look miles long.

  6. The thin black belt keeps the pastels and nudes from looking too sweet.

In my mind there’s nothing not to love about Watson’s springtime look–except for the fact that the color palette may be a little bit tricky to pull off for those of us who don’t have her English rose complexion. But no matter. Colors can be changed, clothes can be fudged. That’s why lazy Saturdays were invented.

You can find similar pieces in stores now but you may have to wait a few more months for wallet-friendly options to hit shelves:

More Alexander McQueen…

Are you loving Emma’s look as much as I am? Don’t you love the boy-meets-girl vibe when paired with her sweet short ‘do? Could you co-opt her look using pieces you already have in your wardrobe? I’m currently racking my brain to see if I have everything…I think I’d need a pair of lace shorts and a nude heel. Guess I know what’s top on my spring shopping list! And P.S. Gaaaaah! That pink lipstick! So good! We’ll get the Girls in the Beauty Department to find out what Lancome shade it is!
