Emma Watson’s Glam Halloween Look Paid Homage to Harry Potter

This Halloween, celebrities proved that there’s no right way to do Halloween. Some dressed as unrecognizable comic book heroes, while some went as the best version of themselves—with lookalikes as their accessories. Emma Watson meanwhile gave the world a lesson on how to make Halloween look elegant.

The actress, feminist and activist spent her holiday at a formal event, but proved black tie and Halloween aren’t mutually exclusive. Watson opted for a gothic look that was appropriate and seasonal. She wore a bewitching dress from Christian Dior that was shown in Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut collection for spring/summer 2017.

At first glance, the gauzy black dress looks like it’s adorned with an abstract pattern—but upon closer inspection you’ll notice it’s covered with bats and the kinds of creatures you’d expect to see in the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff and prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
