Here’s the Beautiful Dress Kate Middleton Wore to Her Sister Pippa’s Wedding

It’s not easy figuring out what you’ll wear to a sister’s wedding, but when you happen to be the future queen of England and your sister’s wedding happens to be one of the most high-profile of the year…well, navigating your outfit gets a little bit trickier. Back in 2011, what seemed like endless headlines were devoted to Kate Middleton’s royal wedding dress in 2011—and lest we forget, plenty more were devoted to younger sister Pippa’s, um, asset-hugging bridesmaid dress. But in typical Kate fashion—and perhaps reflecting her awareness that comparisons between the weddings would be inevitable—the Duchess of Cambridge’s gorgeous outfit walked the line perfectly between being chicly notable and being understated enough not to upstage her sister on her big day.

The duchess wore a blush-pink custom Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton—who also designed her wedding dress. We’ve seen the midi length on Kate on more than a few occasions, and, as Vogue notes, the dress has a few of her other signature looks, like the gentle peplum and the “figure-flattering drapey pleat work.”

She also kept her look on-trend with the dusty rose color, which matched the ribbon around Princess Charlotte’s waist. It also complemented the subdued white and light-green outfits Prince George and the other little wedding attendants wore. So coordinated (aren’t they always?). So cute.

In true British wedding fashion, Kate also had a matching fascinator perched on her head. It was designed by milliner Jane Taylor, who has created hats for Kate and Pippa for other special occasions. Duchess Catherine topped off her demure look with morganite earrings by Kiki McDonough.

Rather than having an official role at the wedding that might distract from Pippa’s day, Kate helped usher the tiniest wedding guests into St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire.

And just as her sister did for her, Kate adjusted Pippa’s train and made sure it looked flawless for the ceremony.

We can always count on Kate to work her timelessly chic style, but her outfit for Pippa’s wedding was a sister act pulled off to perfection.
