Is This Officially Taylor Swift’s Most Iconic Fashion Moment?

Even typing those words felt weird. Taylor Swift has had many a style moment, and when Fawnia collected her best there was definitely no swimwear included. But that purveyor of all things pop culture Saturday Night Live had a clever little sketch this weekend about the way that everyone, grandparents and boyfriends included, love them some T.Swift. In it, SNL cast member Beck Bennett advertises “Swiftamine” for when you have trouble accepting that you’re jamming to one of her songs because “Oof. Taylor Swift. She’s always wearing, like, a 1950s bathing suit.”

Firstly, Taylor was in on the joke, which I love.

And secondly, does the fact that SNL cherry-picked this fashion moment mean that it’s kind of (at least for now) her most iconic? She’s definitely the first name to come to mind when I think about high-waisted bikinis, but she’s also the first name to surface when I think of anything retro-inspired, sweet sundresses and ladylike handbags included. She’s also got such a mean red carpet game that it feels wrong to call out a bathing suit, worn approximately three months out of the year.
