Lily James’ Cinderella Premiere Dress Was Actually a Fairy Tale Come to Life
So far it’s been a very good day for girls who love princesslike fashion (if you haven’t seen yet, there’s news to digest!). When I first saw pictures of Lily James from last night’s Cinderella premiere, I may or may not have let out an audible squeal—everything about her look was perfect! Red carpet choices rarely hold to the theme of a movie or event, but it’s kind of amazing when they do. Lily didn’t try to remind us she’s not Cinderella but instead completely embraced it right down to the tips of her Louboutin-clad toes.
The dress is Elie Saab couture, and with long sleeves, plenty of sparkle, and a construction that looks light as air, it totally feels like the kind of magical number a fairy godmother would whip up for you to wear to the party of your life. I mean, she is Cinderella in this.
From the back you can see the delicate netting used and properly admire that amazing train.
And because when you’re starring in a movie that’s kinda all about a shoe, you’ve gotta represent. Lily skipped simple sandals or pumps in favor of this over-the-top embellished lace pair from Christian Louboutin. I would’ve loved to see an actual glass slipper, but I get the constraints of physics and such.
For the final touch, she carried Charlotte Olympia’s clock clutch, a piece from the designer’s fairy-tale-inspired line.
Do you think this is the loveliest or what? Are you also so glad she didn’t just pick a pretty dress but instead played up the Cinderella thing?
